Specialist Registration: CESR evaluation update
The CESR Committee will be hosting training for applicants, new evaluators and Local Trusts throughout the remainder of 2024.
The new standard, and Portfolio Pathway was introduced in November 2023, and we are working with all stakeholders to ensure correct information is communicated and applicants feel supported.
The Committee are also scheduled to deliver training to Local Trusts and will be visiting West London NHST in July.

CESR evaluations undertaken in 2024
The Equivalence Committee has recently received communication from the GMC that all CESR Evaluations undertaken in 2024 have been completed within the legal deadline.
This is a significant achievement as the College previously had a large backlog of CESR applications and therefore struggled to meet deadline requirements.
CESR statistics for 2024
Twelve evaluations and reviews have been undertaken in 2024, and of these we have welcomed nine doctors to the specialist register. There are another three evaluations being undertaken.
The College is working with the GMC to allocate evaluations in advance, and we have a further 12 evaluations expected in 2024.
The first evaluation under the new curriculum was undertaken in April 2024 (Specialist Registration granted), and we anticipate the first Portfolio Pathway Evaluation to be allocated in September 2024.
