Treasurer election
Nominations to stand for election as Treasurer open on 4 April 2025 and close at noon on 2 May.
This page contains everything you need to know about elections for the College's Treasurer and how you can get involved by standing for election.
The term of office for the post of Treasurer is five years. Please read the role description and ensure you're able to fulfil the key responsibilities before agreeing to stand.
All Members, Fellows and Specialist Associates of the College are eligible to stand for election as Treasurer.
There are two routes to stand for election as Treasurer:
Route 1 – Supported by Council
The nominating meeting of Council is on 4 April 2025. At this meeting, the Council will agree on a maximum of three candidates to nominate for the position of Treasurer. Candidates need to be proposed and seconded prior to the meeting and will have to provide their written consent to stand for election. Nomination forms for Council must be sent to elections@rcpsych.ac.uk by 5pm on 3 April 2025.
Information you'll need to provide
If you're being supported by Council, you'll need to submit the following through the by midday on Friday 2 May:
- two supporting statements:
- a 50-word summary statement for use on the College’s communication channels
- a 500-word election address which will appear on the ballot paper and RCPsych website
- good standing information: you'll be asked to confirm your good standing with your country's medical council and with regard to College membership fees.
Route 2 – Supported by other members
The second route to stand for Treasurer is to submit a nomination that's supported by twelve Members or Specialist Associates who aren't members of the Council. Members can only support one nominee for Treasurer.
Information you'll need to provide
If you want to stand under route two described above, you'll need to submit the following through the by midday on Friday 2 May:
- the names and email addresses of your 12 supporters (they must all be Members or Specialist Associates who aren't Council members).
- two supporting statements:
- a 50-word summary statement for use on the College’s communication channels
- a 500-word election address which will appear on the ballot paper and RCPsych website.

Can I support more than one nomination for Treasurer?
No, you can only support one nomination.
Can I be supported by a member of Council as part of the 12 supporting signatures?
No, Council members can nominate members for the nominating meeting of Council on 4 April but otherwise can't support a nomination for Treasurer.

When will voting take place?
The voting period is from 28 May 2025 - 18 June 2025. We'll announce the results on 19 June.
